if the thread is OK, you might be able to jack it up, remove wheel, rent spring compressor and compress spring. when compressed, you might be able to add a new 2nd nut and add a bit of loctite. to keep it from spinning, you might be able to stick some pliers on top just to get the 2nd nut on. if the spring is compressed, it should go on fairly easy.
The one struts I replaced just have 1 large nut (nylock) on top, instead of 2
