So there you have it, for road course racing you want to use a high capacity filter. Why a road racing car didn't come with a high capacity filter would be another good question. Somebody else can ask that one.
It's not about capacity it's about flow rate having had both of these filters in my hand at the same time at the dealership last Friday my observations are this, the PF64 is just slightly smaller in size then the UPF48R but the holes in the top plate of the 64 appear to be 20-30 percent bigger and there are a couple of extra holes in it. The PF 64 will flow a substantial amount of oil over the 48. That being said when you go to the dealership and ask for a filter by VIN number they are going to give you A UPF48R that is what are cars call for regular street usage. According to the look up software at the dealership, the PF 64 is not even listed for our cars you have to ask for it.
