Really hard -- but once I figured it out, I realized it would have been easy if I knew the right way to do it. The bezel pops out with a good tug. Its the rubber part behind the steering wheel that confused me, but there are some youtube videos that can help.
EDIT: Putting the gauge bezel back on was a nightmare for me. The clips wouldn't fit as they originally did and it just looked like crap. I ended up having to bend some clips to get it to sit right. It now looks as good as new but it was pretty scary for awhile.
