Your first assumption is pretty likely to be incorrect. GM can and will reduce weight on any track variant. And as for the second if that is the engine it will be well over 100 HP more that the FC V8 which would put the proverbial fork in it. Add CC brakes and not even a concern.
If it has 100 HP more and weighs within 100 pounds no contest.
Where it will get interesting is if the is an LTX in the mix. So my guess is the ZL1 launches first again and the Z/28 follows with an LTX.
But I just don't see a GT350R being 300 pounds less than a not currently announced Z.

An LT4 Camaro won't be within 100 lbs of the GT350. A Camaro within 100 lbs of the GT350 won't make 100 more hp.
Yeah, I'm assuming but I'm making assumptions based on what GM has done. I don't think GM will make another LTx for a Z/28. They will probably just build an LT4 powered Z/28. Even if the Camaro loses 200 lbs across the board, that puts an LT4 powered Z around 3900 lbs, which would be way heavier than the GT350.
