No, I did not get it sorted out. It threw error codes all over the place, I took the whole console apart a second time, put the original sensor back in, and everything went back to normal. So I just left it, and set the replacement sensor aside until I had time to do more research. I still hate that hill start garbage with a passion, but I haven't seen anyone else have the same issue, so I still don't know what was wrong with the swap. I've kinda dreaded taking it all apart a third time, so I just didn't mess with it. That, and the car was in the garage for the winter, so it really wasn't a concern while I was mostly driving my pickup around.
If anyone finds out if there is some difference in the 15's as opposed to the 13/14's, or has any other suggestions, I'd love to hear it. I've driven nothing but manuals for the past 19 years, so this "feature" is very irritating at times.
I doubt my screen name, or the fact that I seem to be the only one this didn't work for is cause enough to just dismiss a potential incompatibility with the 2015 models. If it is working for everyone else, great, I'm glad. Yet, I'd still appreciate any assistance troubleshooting the matter so -I- can get it to work as well.
Edit: The part number I received is GM#13504156 (at least as far as the box is concerned) could it maybe have been the wrong part in the right box or something like that? (That's the best guess I have at this time, as the sensor itself does not have that sequence of numbers on it, just two bar codes and some small print numbers that are a longer sequence.)
