You'll mess up the balance and therefore the handling. But if you don't care then go right ahead. The rears do have a lot of wheel well gap and it can be a visual turn off. Other threads have discussed this issue.
off topic: I have noticed 315/35/20 on the new BMW x5. Dunlop sports. For a soccer mom SUV it looks pretty d*mn good from the rear.
