The Grand National was out for a few years before it really became known. It was always black and beautiful, but really got know once they pumped a few 'roids into it and started smacking down pretty much anything back then.

Yep, the pre-86 hot-air GN's didn't get much attention, but when the intercooled cars came out in 86 thats when the interest started for me. The GNX and TTA helped push recognition a bit in later years.
My comment about the Hellcat had more to do with who thought back in 1987 that there would ever be a showroom stock Dodge with double the power of a GNX for virtually less cost in today's money? Not to mention a top speed 25mph faster than a Lamborghini Countach.
