Same here.
If the correct bolts and machining processes are used to mate the rotor to the hat there shouldn't be a balance issue. I didn't know about the offset in the dual cast rotors, good info.

Not trying to argue, I just enjoy engineering challenges and appreciate the effort GM and Brembo go to give us the best. So consider this. Casting differences inside the vane are in millimeters, cant machine in there. On discs this big you are talking pounds different due to variation. The OD and face machining has tolerances too. But the main issue with rings, torquing bolts so disc and hat are balanced, just think about it. This is one of brake industries biggest secrets and many top brake guys have patents on this. Good luck doing it by hand.
Now rings were not big issues on race cars and tracks with low speed power etc but we are in the fastest ever times for factory cars. Corvettes and camaros now can do around 150mph and more on some tracks like road america, COTA etc. at these speeds these huge brakes can have big impacts on brake confidence, brake feel and durability if not balanced. Its so cool how technical these companies get now a days..... For $250 a rotor. A steal, trust me. Go quote a bmw m3, porsche or audi rotor.....not even true 2 pc floating design.
The new z06 calipers are equal piston sizes, all 4, on the rear calipers. I think 30mm pistons. Ours are staggered and bigger by a few mm to distribute pressure better since our rear pads are quiet a bit bigger. 34 and 32 mm i think. Vette is way lighter and better rear cooling hence ok with it ( it has rear brake ducts).
Oh, ZL1 has directonal curved vanes and thicker face plates so can take more heat. Also, has no holes between hat and rotor so cooling duct air all goes into vanes. Curved vanes creat more surface area to dissipate heat and use better air flow inside to cool better. Post pillar is not straight vane, cts V co cast is post pillar, probably worst option for air flow and results in smallest surface area.....but lightest mass wise. 2014 vette z51s had co cast rotors and came with little rings you pit on track to close out holes so rotor cools better. Google it.
