Venting to the air defeats all evacuation and leaves most all the damaging compounds in the crankcase reducing your oils ability to protect....your shortening engine life considerably. As for consumption, even though your leak-down looks good, you may still have a piston/ring issue w# 6&7 looking at the plugs. Worth tearing down and inspecting close to see if any indication of that top ringland pinched or even gunked up w/residue preventing those rings from moving freely.
