The Katech Torquer LS3 uses aggressive cam lobes but the lift is not monster. With only 581 / .601 lift this is a very ideal for the race track.

You are correct. Add to that the power band and torque and most of the cams being used are not going to perform well on track. It is a classic athlete analogy. Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.
