I should revise my statement about V6 cars not being able to sound good. I guess it depends on a lot of things. I had a '91 Cavalier which had the 3.1L engine good for all of 140hp I believe and it sounded really good. Maybe the firing order? It had that gurgling sound that I don't seem to hear from any new cars anymore. It even sounded better than the 3.8L in the Grand Prix/Impala's. And that was a stock exhaust! My neighbor has the Infiniti G37 and is in love with the sound. I think they sound pretty much like all other rice out there only a bit less annoying tone. But ultimately, it's the monitone sound that most cars have which I don't care for. I think what attracts people to the V8 sound is the harmonics or changes in tone, burbling etc. Maybe the newer engines are just so different in how they are made that they can't resonate in that way?
