I just finished a track day at the Ridge. This was my first time with this car at this track, and I need to get used to it, but it was overall not bad at all. The car performed great even though the oil temps sky-rocketed (more on that later):
If you can read, the oil temp gauge is on the left in front of the shifter. It starts at around 292 degrees F by the start of this lap, and ends at 297 degrees F (by the end of 10th lap). In short, the car is overheating.I am honestly not sure what's going on at this point. The oil cooler is simply not adequate. Does it not have enough air flow? I am also wondering if a different style of core would help more?
Anyhow, perhaps I should indeed seriously consider my idea of installing the OEM cooler back, and converting the auxiliary oil cooler to get it from a sandwich plate adapter. This way, I can also get the help of the radiator to cool down the oil, which is under-taxed at this point. The temps were around 75 degrees max. I am disappointed in this.
I added more water to the coolant, so it should be about 30/70 right now. I am wondering if the lower coolant temps can help reign in the oil temps. I honestly don't think so, but it is very easy to try : )
