I wish people knew when exactly to place an order with what dealer. That would make things a lot easier. But with the whole dealer allocation system and now the added on ordering constraints, it's anyone's guess.

However, you can make a slightly educated guess. If a dealer has say 12 allocations. Currently mostly enthusiasts are ordering Camaros, and most enthusiasts want V8s. So say this year 8/10 Camaros sold is the V8. GM apparently wants to do a 40-60% allocation system depending upon the week. So lets say GM wants it to be 5/10 sold is the V8. From 8/10, that's a 38% decrease in SS sales. So You can assume that you'd have to wait 38% longer on average to get an allocation for an SS. That's not really too bad. Just hope your dealer doesn't have a backlog of orders.

So back to the dealer with 12 allocations, instead of waiting on average 1.25 months for an SS (dealer orders 9.6 SS on average and 2.4 LT/LS per year) you'd have to wait 2 months on average assuming the dealer had no backlog of orders.
