I looked into both and DYAD has the springs, the slayer does not. My guess is its a combination of lash throughout the drivetrain, trans and diff. The new diff probably has better lash tolerances and the DYAD was absorbing the torque loads minimizing the noise. With the slayer it has no way to absorb the torque loads so the noise ihas become noticeable again.

Mine does the same, not like my original thought of the cranky clutch but I can hear a little lash in the trans. I haven't paid enough attention to notice if it's in the diff as well.
