If you have a direct injected engine, no fuel passes over the valves, so all that oil goes back thru the intake manifold and in thru the intake valves, creating a whole lot of gunk build up. My RX catch can catches approx. 1 oz of oil gunk per every 1000 miles driven. I have over 75K on my Camaro now. To be that is over a 1/2 gallon of GUNK that is not in my intake manifold or on my valves. Call it "snake oil" if you want, but I for one will never buy a DI engine without having a catch can ready for install the moment I get the car home from the dealer.
