Our break-in procedure started on the Dyno. A 5-10 minute warm up from 3-4000 RPM and then set Lash. Make a test pull from 6000-7800 RPM and then let its tongue hang out making pulls from 7400-9800 RPM (300 RPM per second). All with an new Hone job, Rings and running Cams with up to 1.125 inch lift. From there the Motor went into the Car. Burnouts at 7500-8000 RPM, launch 7400 RPM, Shift 10200 RPM and Trap at 10400 RPM.

Only broke 2 motors. 1 A crew member mis-placed a push rod in the rocker when setting lash and another when I lost a transmission going into second gear. Once back to the pit we found a Valve through the head sideways. A little Welding and machining and it was good as new.

500 Inch Olds DRCEII 1400+ HP +/-800 lb-ft with an incredible acceleration rate. Like holding a 5 headed rattle snake with one hand.

I would love to tear into the broken LS7 motor and see what the problem is. Hopefully I'll get some feedback on what happened.

All will be good in the end!!!
