Even mild stop an go kills the fun of manual for me. If I was buying a weekend fun car/track car, I'd go manual, but that's about it.
I was a big manual advocate for a more "involved" driving experience until I started driving about 80 miles one way to work about 6 or 7 years ago. After a few traffic jams, I switched to auto and enjoy the convenience.
