the shielding in the picture looks good, is it just a shield or does it wrap over the top of the starter, which then might trap heat around it, rather than letting air move ?
We are using the factory cable to this point. We have some other cable that's available but we will see what this does first. The shielding is mostly a flat double wall piece that bolts right above the starter. I can see where it might hold a little heat but I'm thinking it shields more heat than it holds.

We did add some insulating material to the outer surface for additional protection. That's the alumized cloth just visible.
