All About The 2001 Camaro RS (SC w/ V6) [SLP]
Option No. Y3B identified the Camaro RS Package created by SLP Engineering for the 2001 V6 Camaro coupe. You could order this package by spending an additional $849 which was available for V6 equipped base coupe and t-top base coupe models (N/A with convertibles).
Standard features of the new RS package included a grille with a Chevrolet bow tie logo, one special interior plaque and three "RS" exterior badges and a dual outlet exhaust system with a high-performance muffler that added 5 hp and a more "throaty" exhaust note.
The RS was available on Arctic White, Light Pewter Metallic, Navy Blue Metallic, Onyx Black, Monterey Maroon Metallic, Sunset Orange Metallic, Mystic Teal Metallic and Bright Rally Red cars. The RS dual stripe package could be ordered in black for cars with exterior colors other than Navy Blue or Black or in silver with body colors other than Light Pewter or Sunset Orange.
You could not team the RS package with convertibles, the WU8 Camaro SS Package, the Z28 Special Performance package, the Y3F Camaro ground effects package, the Y87 performance enhancement package or the MM5 5-speed manual transmission in California or Florida. 6-speed manual not available.
Optional equipment for the Camaro RS included 16 x 8-in. SS-style wheels and a suspension package that used standard V8 front (32mm) and rear (19mm) anti-sway bars.
Because this was a feature only available on the Base Coupe only, the 5-spd manual w/ overdrive was standard. 4-speed automatic was optional. 6-speed manual not available.
