Not necessarily the case. Chevy doesn't care what the dealers sell the cars for, they care about volume.
My next door neighbor works for the local dealer that I go to and we've talked at length about this.
Depending on the situation, they WILL take a loss to move a car as long as they're making enough on the rest of the cars they sell to keep things afloat.
On my 2015 I just picked up last night, they went $1500 under the %20 to give me what I wanted on my trade in.
They're getting the %20 back from Chevy, but they could not possibly be making very much on this sale.
Actually... rethinking it. if they're getting the %20 back from Chevy, then literally they're selling this car for $1500 under MSRP, which at full sticker would be a horrible deal. 3 to 5k under sticker would be better.
But in the long run in this particular case, for me it's a great deal.
