Man...in a city like Houston, it's tough to keep up with what shop is 'the best'

There is a HUGE market for High-performance shops in this town. As such, you get mechanics bouncing around from place to place, I think. 510, LMR, KP, HP, FAST(gone..), EnglandGreen, etc...

With so many choices, you're gonna get some "omg they're the best" and you're also gonna get "these guys are crooks"

I truly wish that I was competent enough to do all of my own work, so I didn't have to deal with all of this, but that's not gonna happen.

The best thing you can do is go visit them. If you're looking for headers/tune, that's probably do-able at WAY more shops than a custom turbo build on a special ordered 427 that you've specced out.

I've had many positive interactions with HP, however I've only had minimal work done on my car there. Good possibility that they're going to be getting some business from me in the not-too-distant future, but if I start seeing reviews of shit work coming out of there, you can bet that I'll scratch them from the short list.

Their shop car is awesome as hell, but of course, they're gonna go balls out on a shop car, right?

Talk with them...visit IN PERSON. If you don't feel comfortable, go somewhere else. May cost you a bit more, but better to spend 1-2k more now, than have to drop another 10-15 to fix a big mess.

Just to show how big the market here in town is, I've listed all the shops that I'm aware of off the top of my head. I'm sure that I'm missing some, and these are in no specific order. I just list them to show that if you're not stuck with a single option...some of these guys may be the best, others absolutely awful.

HP Motorsports
KP Racing
Hennessy
EnglandGreen
PowerFab
J-Rod
510 Race Engineering
Bumbera's Performance
Houston House of Power
Advanced Racing Dynamics <-- got a bad wrap from HTCC - suggest avoid
LMR
Extreme Offroad & Performance (only reason I know about these guys is bc they did a Maggie install on my bud's 2010)
.....

I'm sure I missed a multitude of places. Point is that you've got options. Just do your research, and know exactly what you want, and what you're willing to pay for it. I'm sure you can find a place to get it done.
