If you use 3M's 1080 film, it features an adhesive that's pressure-activated. It's a little forgiving on the initial lay, but if you press it down, it will stick, and you will stretch it pulling it back up (which can easily be undone with a heat gun). Having a heat gun on hand will help you immensely. Applying heat shrinks the film back to its original form, helping eliminate wrinkles and stretches.
