I have noticed that the tips do get VERY close to the stainless steel exhaust housings on the GFX, so maybe there could be potential buzzing from metal touching metal, or paint damage maybe, but I have driven the car for hours and touched the housing and it isn't hot at all, so in the end I am not sure of the reasoning.
The instructions call for the exhaust tips to be cut and a slip cover (provided in kit) placed over the remaining pipe. This is the best picture I have but notice the pipe does not have a "cut-off" look:
