Well, been driving the car a few days a week and notice a 'spitting' sound and a small 'tinny' noise when first starting and getting on the gas. Was not really noticeable until last week (as the temps went colder). After looking @ the last set of mods done (cradle bushings), it appears the exhaust bolts needed to be re-tighten. So, examining potential areas where the exhaust my be leaking and possibly hitting, I loosen everything, re-adjusted, and then, using a torque wrench, tighten the bolts to 55 ft. lbs. Took it out and, no spitting or tinny noises!
The spitting noise was really odd, and I've only heard that sound one time during my career as a tech -- and it was an very small exhaust leak -- HARD to find sometimes, but @ least with this one, I was able to retrace what was last removed and re-adjust everything.
Weather here tonight was low 50's, upper 40's so, of course, the car ran like a beast in WOT test mode ;o). Gotta get my winter rims/tires ready for my trip to GPI for a set of tweaks to see what kind of numbers this will get.
As the 6th Gens start making their way, the swan song of the 5th Gens just set that stage. The first time I saw the 5th Gen was on Transformers -- that just made my heart skip a beat -- loved the looks -- STILL do.
The 6th Gens are an evolution and thus have incorporated much of our feedback and what the aftermarket has done -- can't wait to see what can be done on the new platform.
I will say, I'm not in a rush to trade out my 5th gen -- just love what I've been able to do with it and a part of my soul is in it. I had that with my 1st Gen, and, regret ever selling it. Don't plan on that with this.
I HOPE there is a ZL1 in the 6th Gen... will be watching for that. The SS has most if not all of what the 1LE had, and parts of the ZL1 so I'm not seeing GM/Chevy doing a 1LE right off the bat -- we'll see.
To all those with the new 6th Gen -- happy modding...
