The rumor mill is thick with disinformation, but then that is to be expected. This isn't a comparison to specific M3 but typical M3 times at Ginerman. Also, what on earth would lead you to believe that Ford runs around testing their mules with professional drivers behind the wheel? This wasn't a time trials at the Ring, this was one a million different shakedown runs that will be made with these cars. The guy behind the wheel was most likely an engineer with a weekend racing hobby, but he was no professional driver to be sure.
