Once through, at the end of the short straight before a medium, left turn, the steering felt normal again and the car seemed just fine.
This issue has never surfaced on my 2010 SS before and the car only has 61K miles on it so I find it surprising that my power steering could be going out already. I have driven the car everyday since I bought it and never noticed this before but then again, I don't do slaloms on the street.
Any thoughts? Anyone else experienced this?

This is a good suggestion and starting point.

I'm installing new sways, springs and trailing arms tomorrow so I'll flush the power steering system first and if the roads stay dry enough, I'll find somewhere to do some testing before replacing the pump with a better one.

I use the Turn One pump in my Camaro and it is a great upgrade! I also installed an additional power steering cooler since I track the car extensively.
