Is there any adjustment to change this or will removing the spring improve this?
Thanks

I've owned several cars and trucks with wet clutches. The pedal spring should stay in place, that is a return spring. Normally there is two cylinders on the system. There should be the master, under the hood by the brake. Then there should be a slave on the trans itself. On the ones I've driven there was an adjustment screw to change the slave travel, so you can make changes to engage point.
