If the car was a track car, the extra weight wouldn't be desirable, but don't track it. I have never had anyone who listened to it tell me they thought it was overkill. I haven't heard the Bose system yet, but I doubt it even comes close to sounding as good as my system. Not evryone is that serious about car audio though, so I'm not judgemental.
