The other thing is, in my history and as many people have told me before, if you have a dead battery you always get a jump from battery to battery. Thats why you see it from one battery directly to the other battery and not to a different post.

So the low resistance of the main power cable running from battery to remote terminal affects jump-start ability...how, exactly?
Also, if the only reason to jump a car is because it has a dead battery, then you'd
always need a battery-to-battery connection and there would be no need for the remote terminal, per your reasoning.
