The engine is tuned for 87, what that means is if the engine detects knocking it "The Computer" retards the timing until it does not detect anymore Knocking.

91 octane or 93 helps reduce the knocking therefore reducing the retarding of the timing.

that is the bottom line.

91 nor 93 is going to get more power.
