let me clarify this for everyone:

the Yenko was a COPO car... the "special 396" that was in it came from the factory... it was actually a 427... this happened because Vince Piggins and Don Yenko were good buddies and they found a way to get around the system.

the Z28 was a race car... the 302cid engine was there because they had a 5.0L restriction in the Trans Am racing series... I can promise you, without hesitation or reservation, that a 1969 Z28 would not only keep up with every single car in the Camaro lineup, but it even gave the ZL1 a run for its money.

the SS was the straight line performer and it was, with some tweaking, the fastest straight line model you could get... the SS396 cars could be rockets but when you had to turn, you were going to get yourself passed by a Z28.

I, for one, think that the Z28 should be the top dog... I think if we're going to start over again, lets get back to basics... let the Z28 go racing, the SS be the straight line performer, make an RS option offered on the SS and base models and make a V8 model like the B4C so folks who want to have the power of the V8 but dont need the upscale options of the SS can have the car they're looking for.

and if there is a number's matching SS427 first gen Camaro out there, then I want to see the build sheet and COPO numbers... until that is posted, I'm calling
