I put down painters tape around the emblem and used a flat wide plastic trim panel tool. Used goo gone and a soft rag and gently rubbed until the residue was gone. Then when it was all cleaned up I used a scratch remover polish and a microfiber cloth to clean off whatever dirt and junk was left that made the ghost letters.
