I agree with changing out the thermostat, it is easy to do. I would also recommend checking to the coolant level in the intercooler/heat exchanger. These sometimes boil off coolant and run low. This is also kind of hard to bleed and get full. I have changed out my heat exchanger twice(once for a Ron Davis, and once for an AFCO) and I was refilling it every few days until it was full.

I have also swapped out my radiator(Ron Davis) and thermostats(Lingenfelter 170* and now 160*). Let us know how it works out.

Also the radiator should be almost full. You need room for expansion when the coolant gets hot.
