I've used this method for many years...totally eliminates the blind spots. Other people that have driven our fleet cars after me think I'm an idiot, but I never could understand why I would want to look at the side of my car in my mirror and then turn my head completely away from the road in front of me to make a lane change.
I read in another publication an easy way to set the mirrors up this way. While parked, line your head up in the middle of the car and adjust the passenger mirror until you can't see the edge of the car. For the driver's side mirror, put you head against the side window and do the same. Works for me, at least.
