ZL1 #35 at GM nationals

Ran into 1969 ZL1 #35 at the GM Nationals in Carlisle, PA last weekend. I've been looking for a REAL ZL1 for about 15 years so finding this one was like a dream come true. Then if that wasn't good enough, the guy fired the car up and gave it a couple mild revs. Originally sold at Sutliff Chevrolet in Harrisburg, PA after having been returned to GM from Fred Gibb Chevrolet for not being able to sell it. Sutliff installed a spoiler and rally wheels and pulled the original engine replacing it with a smaller engine to make the car easier to sell. When the original owner found out what the car was they took the car back to Sutliff and insisted that they reinstall the engine that came with the car. Unfortunately that engine had been sold so a warranty replacement ZL1 engine was installed, which was still in the car today. This car is one of very few that never made it to the track as a regular drag car and as such has a "high mileage" number of about 8,000 miles. This car was a dream come true to see, and an even bigger dream to hear run. Just an incredible car and I hope to one day be able to see the other 41 that remain, or find a long lost one in a barn somewhere
