I would do it the way you suggest. But there is one problem: In Austria you can register 3 cars and pay taxes only for the most expensive of the three. I have only one set of licence plates (front and rear plate) for 3 cars (see my garage), but I can save about 2600 euros (3800 dollars) per year. It is important that the plates fit on each car and mounting and dismounting can be done easily. My three cars have very different front- and rear-ends with different bendings...
