That's actually how you are supposed to negotiate. You are going to get a better price out the door negotiating a cash sale than trying to play the finance game with the dealer. ALWAYS negotiate the cash sale price of a car, then finance the sale price after that number is confirmed if needed.
You come in saying "we will finance thru you" and you just lost all of the leverage.
