A meaningful advantage to Ford, particularly in terms of low and mid range acceleration. Factor in the reality that the Mustang will weigh an easy 300lb less than the Camaro and, well, you have an advantage that exacerbates the two advantages already mentioned above.

If these power figures make it all the way through SAE certification, and to be fair sometimes they don't, the power difference is going to feel more like 50hp than 11hp. Put more plainly, odds are pretty good the 2011 V6 Mustang will be almost as fast as the current GT model. Absolutely no question, a car with specs like those would be a very solid, high 13 second vehicle in almost any drivers hands. A good pilot could almost certainly drive a vehicle with a power to weight ratio like the one above to mid 13's. That is flat out moving, pure and simple.
Excellent post. Its yet to be seen if the Mustang will get the power thats in the rumor mills if they do I want to thank GM for the good competition. I think the V6 Camaro is one of the best buys out there and Im a V8 guy pretty much all the way. Now, the Mustang 3.7 could be a terrific bargain. It seems to be fairly easy for everybody to add power but I dont see anybody shedding weight and that will be the down side of the Camaro. Its there and its not going away. I truly hope the Mustang does not end up the same way. FWIW, I think the Mustang is too heavy also.

On paper, the V6 stang with what we think we know will be a great performer. I almost wonder if Ford did not purposely wait to see what Gm had before they brought out the 3.7 and 5.0. Who knows but these are the good old days and I owned a few 60's cars and they are junk compared to what we have today.

One more thing. There is constant bickering here and elsewhere about the Ford Vs Chevy thing and it will go on till the end of time as long as there is a Ford and Chevy around to buy. Most of it is in good fun and some take it to the extreme. My second choice is a Camaro over a Mustang. At the end of the day, we are all brothers and the real enemy is the ricers.
