What Camrytt is describing is simply putting the transmission back in Sport Mode (if you are in manual mode). The same thing can be accomplished by shifting from D to M, without touching the paddles.

If you touch the paddles in Sport Mode, you enter Manual Mode. Holding the upshift (right) paddle for several seconds brings you back to Sport Mode.
