See i disagree, i think GM's in a good spot with ownership, America itself owns the company, what more could you ask for? And come on, we've heard the same song and dance forever, when the first Camaro came to light we heard "oh my goodddd thats gonna FLOP, who would want a muscle car right now??" and now look, the Camaro alone is GM's knight in shining armor pulling them out of the ditch, so here we go all over again, people say "its stupid to make a performance car" well just look at history, or well, just this past year! haha, we KNOW the demand is there, if this post on this site alone can light up with 100+ posts in just ONE hour from just the mention of that magical letter and two numbers then its blantently obvious that the demand is screeaaming for the car...and i think what most people are missing is that that is the golden rule in the auto industry, people can go on about MPG and "greener futures" all they want but when it comes down to it demand trumps all, and if the demand is high enough (which i previously stated obviously is) then they most definatly will cave to what will bring in the most money, regaurdless of what announcements and promises they made, and reguardless of where ownership lies (especially since, as stated, GM is owned by the people of America, and the people of America WANT a Z/28!) haha, come on

I still hang on to my proposal for the 427 though, i preffer all-motor cars, and that'd quell all arguers saying "well its just a supercharged SS" which is really wouldnt be, the first post in this thread stated that it would have MANY finely tuned aspects about it, meaning the whole drivetrain, and more most likely, would be head and shoulders better than the basic SS...meaning better aerodynamics, better suspension, better wheels and tires, better gear ratios, all built with lighter parts (ahh, key word! lighter! yayy!) im confidant it will come to light and im confidant it will be the same in scale as going from V6 to V8 performance specs, almost a whole different car
