External Fuse Box

Since I'm looking at adding 'another' circuit, this time I added an external fuse box with its own 30 amp relay and 30 amp fuse.

Its pretty simple -- I bought a 6 fuse box from amazon (I chose the '6' as it allowed me to mount and supply and external power source):

Along with 30 amp relay (everyone uses these -- its the same as the bosch/varimax pumps as well as the Gen5Diy circuits):

Wiring layout:

Made my own relay harness with 30 amp fuse block:

Next placed the fuse box close and moved the varimax pumps to the fuse box (note I labeled the fuse locations):

Yes, upside down so when you lean over, it looks rightside up!

Located fuse box:

Ran the harness and hooked everything up (note the 'white wire' is now the 'switched' circuit that will energize the relay when you turn on the ignition, fuse block (yellow wire on the relay) goes to the external fuse box power source, other red (blue wire on the relay) non-fused wire goes to the factory fuse box-power terminal, and black is ground):

See, upside down works (depending on how your browser shows the image)!:

VMax-D (Varimax Pump Driver's side)
VMax-P (Varimax Pump Passanger's side)
BB-Pump (Electric Brake Booster Vacuum Pump)

Test by turning on and then off the ignition and --- SUCCESS!

Now I have just a 'switched' line in the factory fuse box, and I can now run my pumps (Varimax and Vacuum Pumps) outside of the factory fuse box. Makes it a lot easier to do! All the fuses I'm using are 7.5 amp fuses -- the vmax are 7.3 max amps, and the vacuum pump is 7 amps max... so I'm @ 21.6 amps with 8.4 amps left for another item that is really 7.5 amps or less...

Next will be the routing of the vacuum pump -- but, I'm waiting on a special switch for running the pump...

More to come on that...
