Major Modification Examples For 1981 and Newer Vehicles
In order to register for "Cruisin' The Coast", each of these vehicles must have a minimum of five (5) of the following modifications and be approved by the selection committee.
Wheels: Changed to an aftermarket (non-factory) wheel
Paint: Changed to a distinctly different style and/or color combination from that which was available from the factory.
Body: Some examples are high-rise hood, ground effects, rear spoilers that were not available from the factory, modified grill, frenched headlights and tail lights, shaved, decked, chopped, channeled, suicide doors, ‘Lambo’ doors and any other radical body work seen.
Engine: Most owners will gladly give a list of modifications that have been done to an engine. Notable changes are a modern V-8 or V-6 in a much older car. You will see changes like carb, intake, air cleaner, aluminum radiator and so on. You can hear a distinct difference in sound – usually due to a larger cam, or Pete Jackson timing set. Having additional chrome or billet aluminum under the hood counts too.
Exhaust system: A change to a non-factory system – such as headers, aluminized or stainless pipes and performance mufflers (Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Borla, Dynomax, or others).
Drive Train: Different transmission, changed differential (9 inch Ford in a Chevy), four-link rear suspension, traction masters, lightweight drive shaft.
Suspension: Noticeably lowered or raised – air bags, cut springs, reversed leaf springs, added springs, raised body.
Interior: Usually begins with different seats, different upholstery materials, modified patterns on the seats and/or door panels, custom instruments in the dash, custom dash, modern electronics. Basically a noticeable difference from stock.
NOTE: Each of these categories count as ONE modification.
Pictures that clearly show each modification will be submitted with the registration form.
