I KNOW NOTHING!! <---- I took several years of metal shop in collage along with blacksmithing, jewelry, lost wax casting and auto shop basic, suspension and alignment and smog, I just do things because I can. Start with the basics like oil change. Change the air filter. Do little things like lights but always do mods you can start over with if you mess up that way you don't ruin your car.
Lets say you want halo rings on your lights buy a set of stock ones new or used that way if it turns out like poop you did not ruin a good set of headlights on your car. Just takes time and patience and planning.
I got a stock ls no fog lights with the steelies. I've just learned to love what I got and improve what I have to work with.
Tools are another thing that helps to have. I just have a jack 2jack stands and a torque wrench. The rest of my tools are all for Audi only or Mercedes specific maintenance.
Take a auto class go to car shows make friends work on there and your own car with them.
Nothings more fun then hanging with other car friends and learning from them.
Car guys and girls are not complicated shit most are happy to just know you want to learn
As for the people on here who are masters at there cars. They just been doing this stuff for a long time.....or there freaks of nature who pick up on it fast. That and the manual and technical diagrams and books help to read and practice. Just start small and easy gain that confidence and work your way up
