Devil's Advocate here...

You are getting ready to go into the Navy, which means boot/basic training/specialty school. You won't see your car for months! Then, depending on where your duty station is, or if you're plopped on a ship/sub, you're off to sea... not seeing your car again... for months.

Why not wait and save for that SS once you have a good feel for your situation after being in the service for while?

Thanks for your future service in the Navy... much respect, my Dad is a retired E9 from the Navy after 20 years of service.
