If you loan a car to a friend and it comes back with a dent wouldn't you expect him to pay for it, and visa versa?

If you have insurance your insurance covers you no matter who's car you
are driving.

Many years ago an uncle of mine was a salesman for large insurance company. The company provided cars to the salesmen.

He gets into a fender bender one day. My uncle had no insurance because he didn't own a car. The company had assumed that all the salesmen would have their own insurance so they did not insure the cars.
Hahaha, an insurance company that didn't insure their own vehicles

I imagine that in the long run, even paying out of pocket for the accident my uncle was involved in, the company still came out ahead of paying premiums on all the cars they owned. While all their salesmen who had their own insurance would take a hit with increased rates if their insurance had to pay out for a claim on a company car.
