But they used the MM6 TR6060 which has taller ratios (except for 4th) so the overall ratios are almost the same as the SS with a 3.45 screw (except for 4th).
The M10 6060 with a 3.91 final drive will have an advantage on the 1LE.
The 1LE does use smaller radius tires which add almost a 3% gain, but the SS (3.91) will still have a greater overall torque multiplication (except for 4th).
In the Gen6 the SS has a 3.73 final drive and uses the MM6 trans, but also has smaller tires than the 5th Gen SS. It will have a slight advantage in 3rd and a bit more in 4th over a stock (3.45) 5th Gen SS.
So you could say Chevy did those with an SS who install the 3.91s a favor.
