As someone who owns a boat, I can attest that this just doesn't happen. Infact, quite the opposite. They drive by and laugh as you spend hours working on said boat, only to take it out for 10 minutes and have something else go wrong. :(

But on the original topic, maybe OP is onto something. Last night I witnessed some young lad pull up to the neighbors house in a 4th gen (peeling paint and all) and their daughter (who as I understand it, is one of the "popular" kids at school) came out and hopped in with him. Didn't look like he was the most handsome fella, so maybe it was the car she was into?
