Main advantage of coil-overs is that you can adjust - depending on how expensive they are - both spring rate and damping rate to almost perfectly balance your car for your particular driving habits, roads, etc. With that said, to gain full adjustability (height, spring rate, compression, rebound) you're looking at 4 - 5 g's typically for a good set of coil-overs - this is where separate springs/shocks come into play because they will be much cheaper while still providing an improved ride over stock.

JusticePete seems to like to the Bilstein B6's with BMR or DSE springs combo; I gotta think the Bilsteins would go well with most lowering springs available for the Camaro as they tend to be somewhat similar in spring rate (I think?); according to Bilstein the B6's are built specifically for a particular car (with stock springs); so, unless you can to spend 4 - 5k as mentioned above or have a dedicated race car you'll probably be well enough off with the B6's + lowering springs.

You can also get less sophisticated coil-overs with less adjustability for cheaper, however, JP recently said that unless you spend the $ to get the full adjustability then the B6's + BMR/DSE springs will be very comparable, and I tend to listen to what he says
