Contrary to what he said, you have like 3 days (in some states) after a purchase to return a car. There may be some mileage penalty (not likely if its only got 16) but I did it once. Really pisses the dealer off but i think you have some grounds here. They will be much more receptive if you agree to buy another one.
On the other hand, just take the car with the new engine. It will be fine. Many MANY first and second gens had engines replaced under warranty. It nothing really.
