The raised collar on the hub is 66.9 mm and designed to engage directly in to the wheel center bore. The studs do not carry the full vertical vehicle load. I do have a spacer/adapter for my spare that also has a raised collar and retains Hub-Centric interface with the wheel, is that what OP ordered? If that interface is missing it loses some of the strength and also can cause vibration.

I can confirm that 5mm is thin enough that the hub-centric interface with the wheel is retained (the hub protrusion is about 12-13mm).
If you went any thicker you would need a hub-centric spacer with a collar though.
Also for accuracy the hub centres the wheel preventing out of balance and vibration. The vertical load is actually mostly carried by the clamping force between the wheel face and the hub face though, created by correctly torqueing the wheel nuts.
Edit to say - I'm running 5mm spacers all around, and don't have any vibration at upto 130mph...
